International Collage

As you all probably know I participate in The International Collage Exchange every year.  Well, at least for the past 3 years. The Exchange is into its 16th year.

There are two exhibitions online, one of which is a 'selling' exhibition, also gracing the walls of the Percy Thomson Gallery in Stratford, NZ.

My entry for sale:

"RELIC"

One of the collages also goes to a permanent collection in a museum or institution.

My collage destined for the permanent collection in the University of Wisconsin, Marshfield, USA:

"BRAINWAVES"

78 artists participated this year so there is LOTS of inspiration there for budding collagists.  Don't forget to look up the work of Terrie Purkey, my blogging buddy, who has joined up for the first time this year.

Just click HERE to get to the exhibitions.  There are four virtual rooms in each.  To navigate just click on the image to open, then click on it again to close.

HAVE FUN!

ON THE EASEL

Have just completed another mixed media small work for an upcoming show.

A Balancing Act
It is a 30 x 30 cm canvas using acrylics, collaged paper, and graphite.

For once I'm relatively happy with the finished work.

LIBERATE YOUR ART

Each year, around this time, Kat Sloma hosts an international postcard swap.  Kat is a fabulous American photographer, and most of the participants are also photographers, but there are some artists who join in with postcards of their work....asI do.

You send 5 postcards (commercially printed ones) and get back 5 from other people, and one from Kat herself.

This year I received:

Kat Sloma

Paula Bogdan

Debbie Bailey

Darlene Cunnup

Amanda Bradley (sorry, no link)

Stephanie

All interesting in their own right.

I sent:

On The Line
Signs Of The Times

Still Life

It's all a worthwhile annual exercise.

MY DISTRACTION

Well, fellow bloggers perhaps it is time to show you why I have been distracted lately.  For those without access to my Facebook, here are a couple of photos of my new toy.

A champagne to christen the pool.

Himself enjoying playing with 'Ellie'

Tho' I hate to admit it, I will be turning 70 next month.  As a real 'water baby' I have lusted after a pool for my entire life.  At last himself has succumbed and this is the result...birthday pressie 2014.  Guess he's in my good books this year.

Richard looks as if he's enjoying it too...but of course he would.  He's christened the water feature 'Ellie McPherson', and now can boast that Miss McPherson is a permanent part of his life.  Dream on boyo!

Looks like my concentration will suffer somewhat...as far as artistic pursuits go.  But who knows?...maybe I'll be so fit I'll be able to do lots more!  We live in hope.

Work in progress

Am at present totally redoing an old painting.  It has so much more vigour now...but is it finished?  I don't know.  I think I need some serious line work here and there.

90 x 90 cm gallery wrapped canvas

The colour is a bit off here...it's actually not as acid.

I also am trying to resolve this collage.....not quite there yet.

Chemise - 20 x 30 cm
There's lots more happening around here.  If you want to see why I've been distracted, visit me on Facebook.

A New Collage

Sorry folks, I'm slow to post these days.  With a large list of things to do, and many distractions...pool building, visitors, celebrations...the blog has been taking last place.  However, time in the studio is still a priority and I've not only been painting up a storm, I've been collaging.

WEATHERING  20 x 30 cm - acrylics, teabags, assorted papers, rusted tin, burnt text.

I'm not entirely sure that I'm happy with this...it's a little busy.

To see the International Collage Exchange exhibition, which is now online, click HERE

This is my third year of joining ICE and I'm honoured to be a part of the annual project.

It's definitely worth a look for everyone interested in collage...or any art.
