An assortment of collage papers that were the beginning of a 'monoprint collage' workshop with Jane Davies.
It's a six week full-on course that I can highly recommend. I've found it challenging, frustrating, but ultimately satisfying.
We are only at week five, and I can't wait to see what the final week has in store. Here are a few of my images from this week.
There's always more to learn.
That said, I have again had a painting accepted as a finalist in the Lethbridge 10,000, and one in the online gallery for the duration. SIXTH year in a row. I certainly get a gold star for trying.

Seems like the blog is last on the to-do list when paint and paper are calling.
I certainly understand the "blog is last" attitude - I get caught up in life and sketching and time for blogging just gets away from me. I actually noticed a while ago that you hadn't posted anything in a while.....
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I just loved taking Jane's classes - you've certainly absorbed her layering and mark making lessons - they make excellent backdrops for your fun collages!
By the way, we've made plans to head to your neck of the woods (Australia!) next year. We'll be in Sydney for 5 days in February. Don't know if it's reasonable for you to come to town for a day (not sure exactly where you are), but it would be SO fun to meet you. Or, depending on where you are (it's a big country), maybe we rent a car and come to you?? Just thinkin' of possibilites......
Fabulous art Jo!! Glad to know it's the art that keeps you away so long but I do miss you. You have done such a marvelous job using what you learn from Jane's classes. And congrats on having your art selected again for the Lethbridge challenge!
ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S where you've been, exciting work as always, Jo. I'm taking Jane's mono print collage workshop this weekend here on Whidbey Island. Wish you were here!
ReplyDeleteOH fabulous to see some of your artwork again!
ReplyDeleteThe third photo is so WOW...it looks like it has citra solv papers included.
What a great class with such fine results.
Congrats also on being selected as a finalist...no surprise there :-)
I have missed you here Jo!

I am SO glad you posted. I have missed you and your art. I understand it's hard to be online all the time when paper and paint are calling, but I was simply delighted to see these latest works.
ReplyDeleteYour monoprints are out of this world. I can't seem to get them right, even though I keep trying. You have truly mastered not just the monoprints, but collaged monoprints.
Loved the entries you have included for the Lethbridge challenge. I can see why you are a finalist. Your art always impresses me.
BTW, please don't stay away too long. Your art friends miss you (me included).
Fab work Jo. Love the paintings. xox
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Congratulations, fabulous work. I'm really loving your monoprint collages, especially the middle one. The colors are really speaking to me. I'd like to take a class from you, actually. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get what you mean about the blog; I love doing it, but there are so many other things that must come first... Your monoprint collages are really quite beautiful - I especially love that second one! Congrats on getting in the show; looking at the two pieces here, it's no wonder that you got in!
ReplyDeleteGorgous as always! Love your paintings! Congrats on being selected again for the Lethbridge challenge. You deserve it, Jo!
